4-D Traveller takes us on another trip to the cold Northern reaches, this time to Massacre Bay on the Alaskan Aleutian island of Attu. Ghosts haunt this place which in May 1943 saw US forces land there and amid fierce fighting recapture the island from the Japanese in World War II. After the war the local Attuans were unable to return due to the destruction of their village in the fighting. The island is however not named for this part of its history but from the earlier murder of 15 Aleuts in 1745 by Russians. US Coast Guard personnel remained stationed on the island until 2010 when they finally closed their military station and left the island uninhabited, except by the ghosts and spirits of the dead. Accompanying us on this eerie journey is a soundtrack from Biosphere, Thom Brennan, Carbon Based Lifeforms, Max Corbacho, Steve Roach and Sun Electric. Starting at 19:00 on The Dream Machine this Sunday.
